"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it's yours." — Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged)
Hello Friends and Yogis,
Ooohhh! It is getting fiery out here in the desert; raging forest fires, record temps, crazy Haboob (new word in my vocabulary) dust storms… In Ayurvedic speak, vata deranged winds are provoking pitta to the max! What’s a girl to do?
Fortunately for me, and I never take this for granted, I get whisked away at least once a month for a few days with the band, aka Sugarland, to a cooler place on the planet to soak up some great musical vibes as well as share my love of yoga. Later this week we head to Paso Robles, San Diego and L.A. for two shows at the Greek. Cooler temps and the beauty of the ocean is just what my heart desires. Life is good!
Last month also found me in lush green heaven and put on a sweater kind of cool San Francisco/Oakland area to fill my own cup and practice with my teacher Yogarupa Rod Stryker. He has his first book coming out this month on July 26 called The Four Desires, based on his life altering five day training “The Yoga of Fulfillment” It masterfully charts a path to live your fullest life and answer your soul’s calling. You can preorder your copy here if you dare! Be fore- warned that your life will change for the better! :) You may just get what you’ve always dreamed of.
Along these lines of cool getaways and planting your seeds of desire, I have two irresistible invitations coming up in the very near future to address the needs of how to soothe the pitta flames as well as heed the call of your own heart.
First, Red Rock Reflections Retreat in the majestic Sedona, AZ. July 29-31. I will be teaching Sunrise Yoga on Friday morning and a Yoga Nidra workshop on Saturday afternoon. Yoga Nidra is a vital component of the Yoga of Fulfillment trainings and an integral part of the manifestation process to harness the power of your subconscious mind. Interested? Next up is Sea to Sky Yoga Retreat in Whistler, British Columbia! During this yoga retreat we will explore the natural beauty of Whistler and the Coast Mountain Range in Southwestern British Columbia. The region is home to a verdant coastal rainforest and a towering mountain range that is dominated by some of the largest glaciers in North America. Here, we will practice yoga and explore this incredible landscape, hiking the alpine ridgelines, cycling through the flourishing forest past spring fed lakes and reaching aquamarine colored lakes resting at the bottom of looming glaciers above. Relax in the comforts of the Legends Lodge set at the base of Whistler Mountain with world-class scenery just outside our doorstep. This is a once in a lifetime trip. Please join me this September as we explore our inner nature in the most ideal outer manifestation of beauty imaginable. You know you want to go… It’s still going to be roaring hot in Arizona!

Soothing forward bends and twists will be the theme to tame the heat of summer while retaining your inner spark. Following on Sunday, from 1-3 p.m. will be Extended Restorative, the perfect companion to savor deep relaxation using props as support to go to the inner realms of your being where you are guided by the light that is already within you!
I hope you are having a joyful summer and finding ways to stay cool inside and out! I hope to see you soon.
From love and in light,
Mary
