Blue Moon
How Fun! Friday is the second full moon of this month called a blue moon. It is a rare event that will not occur again until summer of 2015. Hence the phrase "once in a blue moon."
It is also the day I will be interviewed by Jessica Durivage of Where is My Guru!, an online podcast radio show. I am so excited to share my thoughts on yoga and life on this auspicious day.
I first met Jessica at Kripalu in 2004, when I assisted Rod Stryker's Yoga of Fulfillment workshop. I was helping her craft her sankalpa (intention). I don't remember exactly what we came up with, but I do know it was visionary and big! I am so thrilled to see the manifestation of her efforts.
It may seem that I am tooting my own horn in this announcement, yet there is a line from the Sugarland song "Wide Open" that says, "every life has a moment where sweat meets fate." The style of yoga that I teach is called Para and one of the meanings of Para is the culmination of all effort. I am thrilled and honored to be recognized for my contributions.
The credit is due to and begins with my teacher Yogarupa, who believed in me until I could believe in myself. At a training years ago, someone asked Rod if he would be their guru. He said he was uncomfortable with that idea and that if he did his job well he would work his way out of a job, as he would lead us to the true teacher, The guru within. Last week during a webinar with certified Para yoga teachers he asked us if we were willing to embrace what we have to offer the world. I heard his words in a new way and they struck a chord, one that I am ready to play. I AM willing to embrace what I have to offer the world! Taking a line from Marianne Williamson's epic poem… "Your playing small does not serve the world."
It is said that during this blue moon it is good to release ties to imposed limitations and original wounds. It is a time to let go of what holds us back. So let's dance in the moonlight of remembrance, listen for the whisper of I Am, and share the joys of our hearts!
Please help me in celebrating my accomplishments for they are as much yours as they are mine as I am inspired in your good company.
