“Just as the sun shines through a glass…the sun and moon and all the planets, as well as all the stars and the whole chaos, are in man.”
Paracelsus- Alchemist and Visionary (1493-1541)
Today marks the shift from the full bloom of summer to the gradual inward presence of autumn. A golden harvest moon shimmers full in the midnight starry heaven. It is the Equinox, which represents the balance between day and night where the sun and moon share equal passage in the sky.
Alchemically speaking, the moon represents silver and is potentized when joined with the sun or gold. The moon symbolizes fertility and intuition. It is feminine in nature and alchemists would incorporate it with the sun (gold) to assure balance.
I find balance by living in constant fascination and wonder with the beauty and mystery of nature that surrounds me inside and out. I have a particular affinity for the transformative powers of the moon.
Last month's full moon found me in Colorado, where I immersed myself in the teachings of Yogarupa Rod Stryker. A most auspicious grand gathering of soulful friends converged under what became fondly known as the “Big Moon,” to perform puja, a fire ceremony where offerings were made to awaken the light of the Inner Teacher; to bring out the fire, the truth that burns bright in each one of us. We were invited to wake up to that flame of spiritual discrimination and to increase our sensitivity in order to hear Divine Guidance, which is always present.
This is Living Tantra in practice, the theme of Pandit Rajmani’s recent visit to Phoenix. He stressed the importance of understanding the purpose of Tantric practices: Creating a world where personal power and trustful surrender, sensory pleasure and spiritual freedom, immersion in the sacred and the securing of our material well-being go hand in hand.
If you were unable to attend this event there is still time to register for Yoga of Fulfillment with Rod Stryker next month, October 13-17, where we will expand on this process of looking at life in all of its fullness whereby the ultimate practice of yoga is to let the light of your soul guide you to achieve the life you are meant to live. The alchemy of Tantra is to take that which is inside you to make the world outside more beautiful, and that which is outside you to make yourself more beautiful, healthy, prosperous and happy.
Join us on the joy-driven Path of Tantra where the living equinox of moon and sun within your mind and body thrive and resonate in harmony.
I hope to see you at one of the many upcoming events designed to rekindle the creative spark that lives within your heart!
