HAPPY SOLSTICE!
“To me, every hour of the light and dark is a miracle, every cubic inch of space is a miracle. " ~ Walt Whitman
Today and the next three months is a potent opportunity to tap into the auspicious energy created by the convergence of the full moon, total lunar eclipse and winter solstice; something that hasn’t transpired since 1638. Wow!
The winter solstice occurs when the sun is furthest from the celestial equator. It is said that this is a culminating or turning point, a time for making wise, enlightened choices. We can make a choice to either remain asleep or to utilize these energies to awaken. This reminds me of one of my favorite Rumi poems:
Don’t go back to sleep
The Breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep. You must ask for what you really want. Don’t go back to sleep.People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch. The door is round and open. Don’t go back to sleep!
As you read this I invite you to pause for a moment of contemplation as I have, to set your intentions and envision your manifested dreams. Use all of your senses to amplify and magnetize your soul's desire. The universe is offering us a rare and great opportunity to remember the extraordinary power that exists within each one of us.
Swami Rama said, “The sun the moon the stars and all the lights you can imagine in the entire external world are but fragments of the one great light that is within you.”
This is why I practice yoga, to remember this light. In Sanskrit this quality is called smarana. It is our deepest remembrance of ourselves as light. We are literally walking, talking, traveling light. That doesn’t mean we deny the darkness. Indeed, it is by entering the depths of darkness and traversing the shadows with a sense of intrigue and curiosity that transformation takes place and light is revealed. This is the alchemy that occurs when we enter into the mystery. It is a journey of unfolding our hearts knowing and connecting more deeply with the truth of who we are. The time is ripe, so ask for what you really want and accelerate the awakening.
